Church of God (Seventh Day) Brings Community Together for 2nd Annual Community BBQ & Back-to-School Celebration
A day of food, fun, fellowship, and giving back to the community
The Church of God (Seventh Day) opened its doors to the community for its 2nd Annual Community BBQ & Back-to-School Celebration, creating a day centered on family, fellowship, generosity, and community connection.
Held at 8500 Torbram Road, the free community event was designed to bring families together while helping children and families prepare for the upcoming school year.
The celebration offered something for everyone, with free food and refreshments, children’s activities, backpack giveaways, a free clothing market, and food packages for families in need.
More Than Just a BBQ
While the BBQ provided an opportunity for families to enjoy good food and refreshments, the event represented something much bigger—a commitment to giving back and strengthening the community.
Children were able to enjoy a dedicated Kids’ Zone, featuring inflatables, games, and activities designed to keep them entertained throughout the day. For families preparing for a new school year, backpacks filled with school supplies were also made available to help students start the year with confidence.
The event also featured a Free Clothes Market, offering new clothing items to individuals and families. Food packages containing non-perishable items were available to help families in need.
And to add a little extra sweetness to the celebration, an ice cream truck was on hand to serve up treats to attendees.
Building a Stronger Community
Events like the Community BBQ & Back-to-School Celebration demonstrate the important role that faith communities can play beyond the walls of the church.
By providing practical assistance, creating opportunities for families to connect, and making resources available to those who need them, the Church of God (Seventh Day) is helping create an environment where community members can feel welcomed and supported.
The message behind the event was simple but powerful: everyone is welcome, everyone matters, and everyone has something to contribute.
With support from community partners including CIBC and Maple Lodge Farms Ltd., the celebration brought together volunteers, families, children, and community members for a memorable day of service and fellowship.
A Celebration With Purpose
The 2nd Annual Community BBQ & Back-to-School Celebration was more than an end-of-summer gathering. It was an opportunity to make a difference.
As families enjoyed the food, children played, and community members connected with one another, the event reflected the power of generosity and collective action.
The Church of God (Seventh Day) continues to demonstrate that building a stronger community starts with reaching out, serving others, and creating spaces where people can come together.
Food. Fun. Fellowship. Giving back.
That is what community is all about.
